Sutukil!
March 18, 2006. That was the date. At 5pm the gang was already poised for the evening’s adbentyur. On a side note though, it was a case of multiple coincidences since we somehow planned to dine the “Sutukil” way, and generally oblivious to the fact that the date we set was just 2 days after March 16, which….
almost half a century ago (four hundred and eighty-five years to be exact), Magellan, the Portuguese explorer who was the first to circumnavigate our globe, and his fleet reached the virgin shores of Samar
… and he, according to popular history, died at the hands of the great warrior-chieftain Lapu-Lapu. And we, some hundred-hundred generations of that historical flashback, will have the adbentyur near Mactan shrine! Yes, that place where you see the large statue of Mr. Chief himself in all his glory–muscled body, loincloth, and that big, bad kampilan (a sort of a falchion or heavy scimitar) that might have cleaved Magellan and some of his friends. See the connection? See? See? Okay it’s not really like something that’s going to tickle some historical fascination, but it was a worth the thought.
Enough of history and multiple coincidences. It’s about pictures and pictures and pictures. So let’s tell it this way…

Si Lany ang nakadaog! Pero di kuno siya sa tropi. Si Lapu-Lapu kuno iya.
